Knitting

This past year has been such a big year for me. I have learned so much about myself, and about life. One thing that I am grateful to have put the time into, has been knitting.

I taught myself to knit last winter when money was low and boredom was high. Im pretty happy that I didn't have the funds to partake in any winter sports, or I might not have learned this awesome skill! I put what little money I had into some yarn, a book on learning to knit, and some needles.

After about a month, I had completed my first scarf! I was so excited and proud of myself that I kept at it and constructed another, this one with fancy stitching and some contrast colors. I thought about what could possibly come from this new skill, and alas! I made my first headband.

Those who know me, know my passion for things worn on the head. Hats, beanies, and especially headbands. As a child, I thought I was destined to become Pocahontas and constantly tied my dads left over raw hind around my head, or stuck feathers from his fly tying station in my hair.

My love affair with knitting has recently blossomed into a business concept. I have been working on my inventory to try and turn a profit. Im sticking with the headbands for now, and specializing in eco-friendly and social conscious yarns that I purchase from Fancy Tiger, a local yarn and knitting store in Denver, Colorado. They have a great selection and even have their own loom to brand their own yarn (learn more about that here.)

I am selling some inventory on Etsy! A great friend of mine did me a favor and took some photos of some of the things I am selling ( I had a model but she didn't show for the shoot, so I had to step in. pshh, typical model, am I right? )

I realize that I am new at this, but I am passionate and driven, and I know that anything I put my mind too, I can accomplish. I am very excited to try out some new mediums, and get back into some old ones, but for now, I am focusing on yarn. I hope that you will check out my Etsy shop and maybe invest in some hand-made warmth for your ears!

Love,
