Inspiration

I've been gearing up for my second semester of class at Parsons and this week marks the start.  I just feel so inspired by this place and the people here. Its not every day that you feel like you are understood, or at least it has never been this way for me, until now. I can look around a room and feel like the people near me are feeling the same surge or energy that I am. Its amazing. This place has a pole like magnetism to it. Not only are the people here ( staff, faculty, students and alumni) convinced that the current is pulling us all in the direction of a better future, but those they are connected to outside of Parson's are as well.

My class and I did some field research at The Highline this weekend, to observe how it is being used in the winter. For those of you who don't know, the Highline is a structure built in the Meatpacking District of lower west Manhattan and Chelsea for pedestrian walking and commuting above the streets of the city. Its a beautiful green space that gives a certain unique perspective to the surrounding space and lays out beautiful vistas of urban planning and historic architecture. It's a great way to see the city, but is used less in the winter, this gave me a great reason to bring along my camera.

Though I do miss the mountains of Colorado, there are man made mountains here that create an interesting view of what the human race can do.  This city is so versatile and inspiring, I find a new way of appreciating it everyday. It's been one of the hardest things I've ever pushed myself to do, but I find that when I glance in the mirror, I see a new and interesting view there, as well.

If ever you find yourself slowing and your bones aching from repetition, do yourself a favor and step out of whats comfortable. You might just find a new strength you never knew was there. Your so much bigger than you give yourself credit for.

Heres to new strides.

Cheers,

&
