Barcelona
Friends who have traveled to Europe tell me how amazing it is, and I have to say, they were NOT exaggerating. I'm not sure about other places as of yet, but Spain has not let me down. I've spent my time in Barcelona and I truly don't want to leave! The cobble streets, the master pieces of Antonio Gaudi, the amazing food and wine, it's hard to believe anyone who's come here has made it back to where they now live.
There's something that draws you in, like right when you think you are on the right little winding path, the city spits you out in front of some great and ancient giant, humbling you with a single glance. "So you've been living right here for longer than my whole country has been establish, huh" you say to the giant, "ahh, sí." it replies with a sigh.
The elegance of every cobbled passage, every carved arch door way, and every fading scent of saffron creates a pallet only the mistress Barcelona can conjure. She's a bold and daring thing. Im so glad we've become acquainted.
I'm not sure if any of you out there have been to this jaw dropping basílica, but it's worth a gander if your ever in the area. Construction on the Sagrada de Familia started in the 1880s and is still happening today! They say it will be finished in 2026, which I consider a win for my lifetime, since five generations have pasted since the start of construction. If your alive in 2026, I find it most important that you pay Gaudi tribute, and witness his beautiful basilica in person.
I'm almost positive that there isn't an angle inside the walls of this church that you can possibly take a bad photograph. Using the rule of thirds, as in nature, Gaudi designed every facade in perfect proportion and with regard to light. I recommend getting the audio guide tour, you can go at your own pace, stop when you want, and specify different areas you want to hear more about. I also got the tower tour, but that portion of the tour was canceled due to high winds. I guess I will have to wait until 2026 and come back when it is finished. I dare say this visit was the last I have to this beautiful city.
Happy travels,
